Buyer Mission at Marble Izmir from Denizli Exporters Association

The 28th Marble Izmir International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair, one of the most important fairs in the world for our exporters in the natural stone sector, started today. During the fair, which will continue for 4 days, until April 29, 2023, a total of 67 exhibitors from Denizli, 12 of which are active in marble machinery, are representing their sectors strongly once again. Denizli Exporters Association (DENİB) is also organizing a buyer mission simultaneously with the fair.

In his opening speech, Denizli Exporters Association President Hüseyin Memişoğlu shared his views on the fair and the buyer mission:

"As Denizli Exporters Association, we organized a buyer mission simultaneously with the fair. In this context, we are hosting leading buyers from Italy, Germany, Azerbaijan and Kuwait in our country. Additionally, in collaboration with our Association, Istanbul Mineral Exporters' Association, Aegean Mineral Exporters' Association and Western Mediterranean Exporters' Association, we are bringing together a total of 117 buyers from 18 countries with Turkish exhibitors.

16 International Events In One Year

President Memişoğlu stating that the most effective means of reaching potential customers are face-to-face activities such as fair participations, bilateral business meetings and company visits and said, "As D, we attach utmost importance to such activities and organize our activities within this framework. We have organized 16 international events in last year. We continue our missions within scope of overseas strategy of our Ministry for 2023."

90% Of Processed Natural Stone Exports from Denizli

Addressing the export figures of the natural stone sector, Memişoğlu said, "We see that Turkey's natural stone exports were realized at the level of 2 billion dollars in 2022. In 2023, exports worth 407 million dollars were recorded in the first quarter of 2023, in January, February and March.

We can state that 337 companies export 90 % processed natural stone to more than 115 countries in the export of Denizli mining sector and evaluating natural stone exports of our province on a country basis, we see that China, India, Brazil, Egypt and Portugal stand out in block stone exports, and the USA, France, Australia, Romania and Iraq stand out in processed stone exports.

In 2022, a total of 272 million dollars of natural stone was exported from Denizli, including 30 million dollars of block stone and 242 million dollars of processed natural stone. Therefore, Denizli shared the lead in processed natural stone exports together with Istanbul. In 2023, our primary objective is to continue our international promotion programs intensively and efficiently to maintain and increase our existing potential."

Natural Stone as A Durable and Eco-Friendly Material

Emphasizing that with climate change, the most important problem of today, sustainable materials have started to come to the forefront at both producer and consumer basis, Memişoğlu added, "In this context, natural stones appear as a durable and eco-friendly material. This is very important for the sustainability of the sector. For the sustainable export, we need to put more effort into making our products known worldwide. Within this frame, we plan to take our place once again at the Marmomac Fair in Verona, Italy next September.
